OUTRAGED: I am incandescent with rage at the culling of Canada Geese in Longton Park.

More money has been wasted on a totally unnecessary act of murder and vandalism – as if this council has money to throw away.

Those responsible sneaked into the park around 5am, knowing that people would be horrified at what they were about to do

To add insult to injury, the cull was carried out the morning after the terrible shootings in Cumbria – gunshots at dawn raised a lot of fear.

It just goes to show how little this council thinks of, or consults, the people on what they want to happen.

What the hell is the matter with people? These poor birds come to this country to get away from inclement weather, they stay until autumn, then fly home.

There was no need to cull any of them. The council said it didn't shoot parents of chicks – how did they know?

The filthiest creatures that live on this planet aren't rats, pigeons or Canada geese – it is mankind itself.

You are more likely to get infection and disease from humans than birds, and the filth we leave laying around far outweighs any bird droppings. The fact that we cough and sneeze into the atmosphere and spit phlegm straight on to our street means that we leave more bacteria for our fellow humans to take in than any animal or bird ever could.

Are we going to start shooting people who spit on the pavement or drop rubbish?

“I am & I thought it bad taste to do it the morning of Family Funday, kids are bound to ask where the birds are they feed. Then that close the mass shooting in Cumbria they could have at leats waited. What would have happened if they caught someone poaching.”
