TAPPING in to the feel-good factor surrounding the long-awaited unveiling of the Sproson Statue makes absolute sense to me.

This is why I applaud Port Vale's new owners for polling fans for their choice of crest for next season's home shirts.

Personally, I favour the idea of going back to the crest introduced in 1956 which is derived from the Burslem coat of arms.

Vale fans love Boslem and are extremely proud of the Mother Town.

The addition of the words 'For all who have gone before' distinguishes the new 'old' crest from the original and pays homage to all those supporters and players down the years who have helped to create Port Vale's proud heritage.

I'll be voting for the the return of the old crest next season by emailing: vote@pvfccrest.co.uk

By the same token, I won't be losing any sleep if we keep the one we've had since 1986.

To be honest, it's just nice to be asked what we think.
