Councillor Joy Garner betrays public by refusing to vote

TRAITOR: On Monday, September 5, Councillor Joy Garner was quoted in this newspaper as saying "I do wish to have a referendum, which means I may have to vote for a leader," so why did she abstain from a crucial vote on the future of our city?

Maybe she was protecting her 30 pieces of silver given by the elected mayor (special allowances). It beggars belief that the so-called Labour group leader can show such disrespect for the very people who elected her.

However, I am not surprised by her actions, having seen her recent performance at the EMB meeting to discuss the Longton High closure notice, when she showed blatant disregard for her fellow councillors.

We must ask Mike Wolfe to stand if the city choose an elected mayor model. A man who through his work at organisations like the CAB regularly demonstrated that he cares for ordinary folk.
