'I have always felt safe living here'
Geoffrey Milward, of Prince Street, said: "When you look back, we did used to have a lot of trouble with things like drinking on the streets but I think it has improved in the past 18 months. There are police walking about more and the youngsters have got better."
Mum-of-two Jayne Bode, who lives on Ball Green Road, said: "I've never had any problems but I have seen more police about lately."
Karen Astels, aged 47, of Little Argles Road, said: "I have never really seen any trouble and have always felt safe living here.
"I often walk my dog late at night and do see youngsters gathered on the rec, but I have never felt threatened by them."
Builder Andrew Swarbrook, aged 47, of Horsecroft Crescent, said: "I do feel the area has improved like with the hanging baskets down by the shops and the trees being cut back.
"I think the council needs to do something about the many grass verges though. Cars are parked on them and there are a lot of tyre marks. I think they should all be tarmaced.
"The police are doing a good job up here and there hasn't been much trouble for a few years.
"Haregate Community Centre is also doing well in providing activities for the youngsters."
