BUILDING A BETTER FUTURE: School pupils will see what difference their fund-raising has made to youngsters at an African school.

Children from Clough Hall Technology School in Kidsgrove will visit Gambia next month to see the school they have linked with.

And the trip – the third the school has made to the African nation – will allow pupils to see its new school roof.

The roof was paid for with money Clough Hall pupils have raised through various fund-raising activities.

Technical services manager Phil Lovatt said: "The purpose of the trip is to see the new school roof, which has been supplied by money raised by our team of students, and to let them experience the cultural differences between our country and a Third World country."

The 12 students who travel will find out about Gambian culture and experience what life is like for the young people there.

They will also help paint the school block and will be taken on a tour of the surrounding area.

And, during their time in Africa, the youngsters will be detailing their experiences in a journal to be printed in The Sentinel .
