FED up with not being able to find a job after graduating, young entrepreneur Roxanne Nicholls has turned her passion for jewellery-making into a business.

The 21-year-old, pictured right, has launched Charms and Chains to make and sell her vintage-inspired creations.

And for Movember – the nationwide campaign encouraging men to grow a moustache during November to raise funds for prostate and testicular cancer charities – she is selling special moustache necklaces so women can show their support.

Roxanne, who lives in Norton, graduated from Staffordshire University in July with a degree in journalism but has since struggled to find a job.

She said: "I've been applying for job after job and getting nowhere.

"I'm a complete home bird and would hate to move away from Stoke-on-Trent and my family, which is probably another reason why I'm not having any luck.

"I've just become fed up with rejection emails so I've decided to make an opportunity for myself."

Roxanne set up Charms and Chains earlier this month and is currently juggling her new venture with volunteering at 6 Towns Radio, in Burslem, and a part-time job at a petrol station in Norton.

She said: "I'm obsessed with fashion – I'm always shopping and I'm a very creative person, so I wouldn't be able to do something boring.

"With Charms and Chains, I'm turning a hobby into possibly a career – I'd love to be able to do something like this full-time."

Roxanne has set up a Facebook page for her new business and is in the process of launching a website, while she also writes a regular blog.

She said: "My journalism studies help me with marketing and writing my blog, which I really enjoy.

"I enjoyed my degree and I love volunteering at 6 Towns, but I can't get a job in that kind of area so I'm doing something for myself."

Roxanne is selling her moustache necklaces for £6, of which £2 will be donated to Movember. They are available at 6 Towns on Queen Street, Burslem, and via the Charms and Chains blog at www.charmsand chains.co.uk/blog/
