“ Attend the Freddie Mercury tribute night - what a great night...... Staff were friendly and attentive nothing was too much trouble. Bar prices no different from going into Newcastle or Hanley.... Food fab really nice we all thoroughly enjoyed it. Going to book the 80's night in Sept and looking to have our Christmas party there too...... Couldn't fault anything - thanks ”

Odd ideas about food

“I had the misfortune of having to attend two functions her and have to say both occasions were dismal. First off the price of drinks was a total rip off even for a hotel and the staff don't even smile as they take the money off you. The food was mediocre at very best with vegetables so hard they could have just been pulled out of the ground. I like a bit of crunch but not raw, please. The second occasion I decided to take the chance of being able to pre-order. To avoid the dire vegetables I ordered Ravioli, expecting a nice dish of large ravioli parcels in the quoted sauce. I did get this but with the same assortment of badly cooked veg. Now, I have been in the catering industry for many years and I have NEVER encountered any chef yet who thought it a good idea to serve roast potatoes, roast parsnips and raw carrot chunks with ravioli. Never stayed there, nor do I intend to, so I can't comment on the hotel as such but the food certainly leaves a great deal to be desired. ”

No frills food, but great service

“I've been there on a number of occasions for functions over the years and found the food is good, if nothing startlingly good, but the service is always spot on. Never stayed there, though.”
