'It was fun taking part, I really enjoyed it'
Werrington resident Tom Meakin, aged six, a pupil at St John's Primary School, Wetley Rocks, said: "I came second in the first race. It was fun taking part, I really enjoyed it."
Fellow St John's pupil Joe Spain, aged nine, from Bucknall, who won one of the races, said: "I wanted to take part because I had made my own pancake. I was happy to win."
James Lovatt-Harris, aged two, from Werrington, said: "I had a little pancake and threw it up in the air. It was fun.
"I enjoyed the race, but my brother fell over his foot."
