CATERING staff at the county's fire service have been recognised for their five-star service.

Workers at Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service's won the highest accolade possible under the Rate My Place initiative following a spot-check by officials last month.

Rate My Place is co-ordinated by Staffordshire County Council to ensure public sector organisations maintain high standards of food hygiene and service.

The fire service's catering unit received its first five-star standard in 2008 when Rate My Place was launched.

Catering manager Stephen Leadbeater said: "It's a great tribute to everyone in the team that we have maintained such high standards of service and delivery and that they have once again been recognised."
