NOT UNIQUE? Jade Goody, Jade Goody, Jade Goody.

We pick the national newspaper up every day and that is all we hear.

While we all feel sorry for her and her family, she is not the only one that has had cancer.

People all over the place are dealing with the same thing. I sat by my sister's bed for hours watching her die and when it finally happened it is the worst feeling in the world.

Then my brother-in-law died of cancer, and just last September I watched my other brother-in-law die of it.

I was sitting by his bed for days watching him go from a strong man to nothing.

My sister left five children and my brother-in-law left three children.

Their families never saw or heard of any wonder drugs to have just a few more days with them, and if there was one we probably would not have got it, or been able to afford it.

No help afterwards for all of those children left behind.

No money from the national papers.

No money from the TV.

No money from magazines.

Just left to get on with it.

If all this money is about, why not give it to Cancer Research and places like Douglas MacMillan?

There, the little man, woman and child tucked away the corner of their home really needs it.

In my eyes Jade Goody is not a star at all.

People fought and died for this country and are still dying for nothing.

“Mr Horton does NOT make a valid point in the slightest.

What Mr Horton has done is presume and presume only! I appreciate that he has had family suffer at the hands of this shockingly cruel disease, however so have many. Unfortunately Cancer seems to be the given in our family where most recent deaths have been down to Cancer. My family are fit and healthy in general however it catches people of all ages and sexes as we all know.

Miss Goody may or may not be receiving money for any stories printed about her, however this is not through greed, it is to support her family when she can not any longer, is this so bad?!

I appreciate he thinks the money can be channeled in to research and hospices and in most situations I'd be 100% behind him. The media are not making an icon out of Jade regarding her cancer nor are they portraying her as someone looking for sympathy.

What they ARE doing however is further raising the profile of Cervical cancer and showing people out there that it is very much real and can happen to anyone. I think recent surveys have shown that the number of patients seeking appointments for Smear tests has risen and this can only be a good thing.

In a nation where sexual relationships are happening between younger couples and women are ignorant to their health it is important to profile a case such as Jade's or Kylie Minogues with her breast ancer.

Mr Horton has not standing for his comments in my opinion as they really don't suggest an answer to a problem.

I would be more in support of his comments if he decided to challenge the governments position on a smear test age limit. This country do not easily allow ladies under 25 to have a smear test....why? it is rediculous. They will vacinate young girls in school against Cervical Cancer but will not allow smear tests until nearly 10 years later, ludicrous!

Remove the age limit and lets really start tackling cancer from the front line so any monies received are truly spent wisely!!!!!!!!!!!”

“All I can say is that if I was unfortuate enough to be in Jade Goody's position I'd be doing everything I could to ensure my childrens future. If that menat doing things that others disapproved of or found tacky, so be it. Whether she's a good person or not is immaterial, she's trying to be the best mother she can be in the time she has left. She's doing exactly the right thing.”

“I can't believe someone is putting down Jade just because she has money and wants a good future for her children when she is gone... anyone would do the same if they had the option to make money like she does.Don'tput her down because she as bettered her life. She has come a long way since she first hit our television screens and i feel it is wrong to put her down like that at this sad time in her life. Yes there are others going through the same situation as she is...but they aren't famous.. Anyone with this type of illness who is famous will always be written/spoken about by the media..not just jade...”

“i have never been a fan of jade , but her cancer story neverless has moved me, it is so sad . i have lost a stepson a best friend and a husband in the most horrific way to this terrible disease, and im sorry but i cant help thinking that if maybe some of these overpaid celebritys donated a bit more of there money to cancer research etc we might be able to find a cure for a disease that affects everyone . but to jade goodys family i wish them well”

“Of course there are many people in her very tragic position, and the girl is far from perfect - who is? However, if I was in her shoes, I'd also be looking to make as much money as I could to secure my childrens' future. I know in that respect alone, she is fortunate in being able to do so when many others can't, but that's not her fault and she has to do what she believes is right for the 2 little boys she is leaving behind. Remember also, she came from a very deprived and insecure background herself so the financial concerns she has are only natural. I feel nothing but sorrow and pity for anyone faced with this situation, when it¿s a young woman with very young children, it's particularly tragic and I certainly wouldn¿t judge her decisions now.”

“Mr. Horton makes a valid point very well indeed, I have been in the very situation that the famliy of Miss. Goody are in, and on more then one ocation. While I do feel a deep sadness for them and Miss. Goody hirself, I also feel that now she and Max Cliffard, the person behind this and truely makeing the cash, must now let it go. Miss. Goody is not the only one who as been told this most upseting of news, meny famliys have been davertated by it, and live with it, cope and move on, when the time comes. It was not that long ago Miss Goody was makeing tabloed headlines for other reasons. How very short memeries the editers of the likes of The Sun, The Mirror and The Star have, not forgeting GMTV, but its only what can be expected from the titel tattel gossip cultour today.”
