•The First Potteries Empty Bowls Project The Burslem School of Art invites ceramists, wood turners and woodworkers, hot and warm and cold glass artists, fibre artists, mosaicists, polymer clay artists, metalsmiths, painters and sculptors, artists of all kinds, to create and donate handmade bowls for the Potteries Empty Bowls 2011. Empty Bowls Project is an international grassroots fundraising event that serves the hungry in local community. •The Annual North Staffordshire Mince Pie Baking Competition Everyone is welcome to enter their home made mince pies to win £50, the title of the “Most Delicious Mince Pie in North Staffordshire” and a unique custom made ceramic medal. Competition rules and regulations are: All participants MUST be registered by 12:30 Saturday December 10th, 2011 at the Burslem School of Art; all contestants must cover their pies until serving; scratch ingredients; no pre-made crusts or fillings; must be served room temperature; cannot require refrigeration; provide two copies of your recipe (one signed, one blind); judging will begin 12:45pm, with the awards announced at 1:30pm; all contestants must provide three pies.
•Open exhibition`s public choice and overall winners will be announced at 1:35 The 1st Burslem School of Art Open Exhibition to identify, recognize, and encourage Stoke on Trent visual artists. The two winners will get a free personal exhibition and a promotional package from the Burslem School of Art for the artist chosen by judges and £ 60.00 from Barewall Art Gallery for the best artwork as voted by exhibition visitors
•Hands on workshops - an opportunity to sell and promote your crafts and arts This Christmas it`s all about giving, we will give you free of charge stall for selling your crafts and artwork in exchange for your skills shared in a free drop in workshop or demonstration during the event. •Food stalls – an opportunity to sell and promote home-made and home grown If you produce home-made or home grown food, we would like to offer you an opportunity to sell at our event. •Community groups & opportunities for community members (learning, advice, jobs business clinics etc.)You are welcome to come and set up a display and engage directly with community members.
•The Prince’s Regeneration Trust New visitor facilities and Interpretation Centre at Middleport Pottery in 2014 – have your say! Try your hand at a print transfer – Burleigh style – and tell us what you think about our plans for developing Burslem’s own unique operational pottery into a heritage visitor attraction!
•The Great Wall of Stoke on Trent China Exhibition of artwork and poetry produced at the Family Learning event on Saturday 15th October at the Potteries Museum. Also on display will be photographs of cherished ceramic items shared by local people. Paint a china flower workshop.
•Santa’s grotto with a real Santa and a free gift for little ones
