“Staffordshire Sands is the local group and forms part of Sands (Stillbirth and neonatal Death Charity) national network, the local group was launched in July 2012 and is run on a voluntary basis.

On Saturday 8th December 2012 at 3:00pm at St Marks Church, Shelton we will be holding our first Service of Remembrance. This service will be a selection of readings, poems, songs, lighting of candles and names read out. Everyone is welcome to attend in memory of their baby. There will be refreshments after the service and our Befrienders will be available to speak to you, if needed.

The group offer support for anyone who has experienced the loss of their baby – before, during or shortly after birth. We have trained Befrienders, who are not counsellors but parents who have suffered the loss of our baby at some time and so are able to offer support via telephone, email and at our monthly support meetings, which are informal, friendly and relaxed. We often do some activities while we chat too, at our next support meeting on Thursday 6th December, we will be decorating baubles for our angel babies. We also plan to hold events and activities to raise awareness and funds for the local group, which anyone is welcome to take part and join us for.

If you would like any further information on the Staffordshire Sands group, our events or if you are interested in becoming involved with the committee, then please contact Josephine (Befriender and Secretary) on: 07580 858694 or e-mail: Staffordshire_sands@yahoo.com.
