Volunteers, carers and staff from a local mental health resource centre have organised an event to raise awareness of mental health as part of World Mental Health Day on October 10.
The volunteers and carers are part of a group who attend the Sutherland Mental Health Resource Centre in Dresden forming part of North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust (NSCHT). The event is open to the public, members of the Trust, patients and their carers and families.
The Lord Mayor will open the event at the Bethel Church, Dunrobin Street, Dresden, ST3 4NA on Wednesday, October 10, which takes place from 10.00am to 3.00pm. The event will include stalls selling home-made arts and crafts, home-grown plants and books, a raffle, tombola and information stands promoting mental health services offered in the Resource Centre, and third sector and charity organisations. The day will also include activities to help raise awareness of dealing with mental health issues, such as relaxation therapies, a Tai-Chi and an ear acupuncture demonstration. Attendees will also have the chance to get involved and take part in a fun quiz.
There will also be a number of stalls and information about mental health awareness available at Harplands Hospital in Hartshill on October 10 from 10.30am.
