You have a duty to us too Dave
I HEARTILY agree with Beryl Lorento about the closure of the Abbey Hulton Community Hall (Sentinel, September 25).
She is angry that the council can close down the community hall because of funding cuts, but can give staff £174,000 to quit their job. It just doesn't seem right.
Once again, just like Austin House in Abbey Lane, it will be left to rot. It doesn't matter to the council that people have used this hall to meet their friends and enjoy themselves.
So this is Mr Cameron's Big Society is it? Take all our community halls away from us.

Mr Cameron's only quest is to give away £12 billion of taxpayers' money in foreign aid.
It doesn't matter about our community halls being shut.
What matters most to Mr Cameron is that he keeps his pledge to to poor countries. He says it is his duty. What about his duty to his own people?
Millions of pounds of taxpayers' money through the EU is being given away to fund aid projects in wealthy countries such as China, Brazil and Iceland.
Iceland is still refusing to give us back the £2.3 billion it owes us after its banks collapsed four years ago.
We won't give Stoke-on-Trent City Council any more money, we will give China – a country with 150 billionaires – £30 million for 22 aid projects. That sounds about right.

“May I take this opportunity to totally agree with what you say. It would appear that the old truism "No matter who you vote for the government always gets in" applies. Not one person who attends those community halls or who is sick, unemployed, elderly or disabled caused the mess that we are in. However, it is those very people most in need of help and support who are bearing the brunt of the council and the government's waste of public money and their general arrogance and aloofness to the needs of the general public, or should I say plebes.
