“As ye sew, so shall ye reap.
    We will reap 0.
We should never have got rid of the only chance we will ever have of true electoral freedom by removing all political parties.
Bring back the politically neutral elected Mayor.”

“It was definitely better when voters could hold the council to account on an annual basis.

But it was especially bad that this all out election system was implemented in such an underhand way. The council could have chosen this system via the normal route using Local Government Act 2007. So they voted... and rejected it! See the motion on page 3 of the minutes:

    http://tinyurl.com/7xnykb8

and its defeat on page 5. So, we should have continued with elections by thirds.

But elected mayor Mark Meredith had a strop and went running off to Hazel Blears to get his Labour government to impose all out elections on us using Local Government Act 2000. This is only meant to be used if a council really isn't functioning properly (it's a bad dictatorial act generally anyway) not just because Meredith didn't get his way in the vote. So the Labour Government forced this on us - facists!”

“With a 32% national turn out, what were we missing exactly?

Another chance for the empty vessels on these pages to brand us muppets/donkeys/sheep for voting Labour?”
