Back in the day, there were no adverts on the intertrons, and we managed perfectly well with our 300kbps modems. These days however it's the adverts, graphics, embedded links and scripts that almost every commercial website is loaded with that demand the high bandwidth speeds.”

Answer to ads if you don't want to see them - use Firefox and install add-ons Ad-Block Plus and NoScript. Goodbye adverts. I'm only seeing them now because I'm having to use Interwebs Exploder at work.
Google syndication drives a lot of web traffic, so the income stream derived from it will be signficant - it´s not just a few pennies.”
