FAMILY members are taking part in a charity skydive after losing a teenager to leukaemia.

They will raise cash for the Young Oncology Unit at the Christie Hospital, Manchester, where Danielle Vernon, a 17-year-old student from Crewe, was treated before her death in May. Danielle's mum, Diane Vernon, of Kestrel Drive, Crewe, and cousin Minshull-Wilde will both be making the jump on Friday, in Lancaster.

Godfather Richard Downing, aged 48, said: "This is to give others the chance of survival, and to help them to enjoy a better quality of life with what they have left."

Supporters have already raised thousands of pounds through car boot sales, tombola stalls, a bingo night and sponsored bag packing at Morrison's.
