Green plant to power up
Around £1 million has been invested by the owners of Eccleshall Biomass Heat to Energy Plant in further cleaning up emissions.
Work on the installation of a new filter system is expected to be completed by July.
The plant powers Raleigh Hall industrial estate, one of the only such arrangements of its type in the country.
The plant was installed in October 2007 to generate sustainable electricity by using plant material such as miscanthus as fuel to create the steam to power a turbine.
Although power has been produced, the technology has had operational problems and residents have complained about smoke emissions.
In January 2008, the plant closed for around three months, as owners and council officials worked together to address the smoke issue.
