COMMUNITY SPIRIT: Re your story about Abbey Hulton car boot sale and your question "what do you think about the Council's decision?" on page 13, March 2.

I would first like to say to the council, give us back our weekly car boot sale at the Abbey Hulton Primary School. It is not just about having a car boot sale which helps the school; it is also about helping community spirit.

It beggars belief that after all these years of having a weekly car boot and raising money for the school, plus the great community spirit you get there, some bright spark comes along and wants to put an end to it, which can only be a bad thing for the school.

I would like to take this opportunity to ask the council to look again at its decision to limit the car boot sale at Abbey Hulton Primary. I wonder if we are being told the truth why they are putting a limit on the car boot sale. Could it be that there have been some complaints about the parking, and if so why not just say so.

Once again Abbey Hulton car boot sale is essential for raising money for the school and for community spirit – and for emptying my shed.
