Cards will all be recycled

SHOPPERS are being invited to do their bit for the environment by recycling their Christmas cards.

Visitors to Freeport Talke shopping centre can drop cards off at the recycling bin in the site's main atrium.

Centre manager Edward Kennedy said: "In the light of global warming, it's imperative that we all do our bit and recycle where we can.

"We're delighted to be able to offer this service in the knowledge that we're giving something back and helping the environment by reducing the amount of waste sent to landfill sites. We hope all of our customers get behind our Christmas card recycling campaign and choose this method to dispose of their unwanted cards."

It is estimated that UK households throw away 2.5 billion Christmas and greetings cards in the days immediately after New Year, resulting in an extra 250,000 tonnes of rubbish.
