Camping firm help dream come true
Eight-year-old Owen's mum Dawn appealed for help to raise the money in The Sentinel last month , saying a trip to Florida could help stimulate her son's brain.
The mother-of-two, from Bucknall, and the rest of the family had already raised £4,000 but needed help to meet a £7,500 target.
Members of the public came forward with £170 in donations and then Welsh camping company Gelert agreed to pay the rest.
Now Dawn, Owen, pictured, his dad Adam and sister Jenny-Lee have booked the two-week trip for the end for February.
Dawn, aged 29, a carer for both her children, said: "It was quite a shock when the cheque turned up. I never thought it was going to happen.
"Owen and Jenny-Lee are really chuffed. They can't wait."
Owen was diagnosed with cerebral palsy as a baby and is confined to a wheelchair.
