Youngsters paint a pretty picture in church
A team of 14 Prince's Trust volunteers, aged 16 to 25, gave rooms at St Paul's Church, Middleport, a makeover yesterday.
Members converted storerooms into an office and workshop and refurbished toilets.
Firstly, the team had to source tools and materials, by calling on the community and businesses to donate equipment.
The volunteers then cleared and prepared the rooms before getting to work painting and adding touches such as pictures.
The team is in the first week of an 11-week course and will be completing different projects in the coming weeks.
Prince's Trust team leader Scott Maynard, aged 33, from Newcastle, said: "They have done an excellent job and shown great maturity and responsibility.
The Prince's Trust is a youth charity offering support for young people to enable them to enter work, education or training.
Pictured are the team ready for action with Jodie Willis, aged 17, at the front.
