THE registered charity which cares for the elderly and housebound in the Staffordshire Moorlands has changed its name.

The Cheadle and District Home Link Scheme was launched in 1986 by Cheadle Methodist Church.

But it has recently extended its services into Leek and Biddulph and wanted to bring its name up to date.

And Charity Commissioners have now given their approval for the scheme to now be called Moorlands Home Link.

Manager Helen Wainwright said: "Our network of more than 250 volunteers and staff is growing all the time to meet increasing demand for our services."

The charity receives financial support but more helpers are always needed for the phone link service and all the support groups. For more information, call 01538 750511.
