MORE live/work units are to be built in a regeneration area.

The upper floors of a building once occupied by the fashion retailer MK One in Burslem are expected to be transformed into 13 units, aimed at creative people such as artists, sometime next year.

Plans had been submitted to Stoke-on-Trent City Council by the company which owns the Queen Street building, London-based Gulshan Property Holdings.

Councillors unanimously approved them yesterday.

Committee chairman, Councillor Adrian Knapper, said: "I know a lot of work has been done to bring artists into the town."

Work should start in the middle of the year and take around 12 months to complete.
