LEEK: A 37-year-old man who stole from two shops in Leek on the same day was given an 18-month conditional discharge by North Staffordshire magistrates.
David Kilbane, of Mill Street, Leek, admitted theft of Ted Baker fragrance packs worth £64 from Boots, Leek, on November 10.
And he also pleaded guilty to stealing gift and game cards from WH Smith, Leek, on the same date.
Kilbane was also ordered to pay £85 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.

FENTON: Khalid Jones, aged 20, of Wallis Street, Fenton, has pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly in Trinity Street, Hanley, on November 11.
North Staffordshire magistrates ordered him to pay fines and costs totalling £150.
The defendant was also in breach of an 18-month conditional discharge for offences of theft, being drunk and disorderly and failing to answer to his bail. That order was allowed to continue.
FENTON: Czechoslovakian national Gabriel Bastura admitted stealing food worth £46.82p from Asda, Fenton, on November 11.
The 41-year-old, of Warrington Street, Fenton, was given a 12-month conditional discharge by North Staffordshire magistrates.
The defendant was also ordered to pay £85 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
STOKE: Teenager Benjamin Judge was ordered to pay £100 compensation to a man he assaulted.
The 19-year-old was also given an 18-month conditional discharge after pleading guilty to assaulting Lewis Clarke-Williams at Stoke, on October 2.
The defendant, of The Salvations Army Hostel, Stoke, was also told to pay £85 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
