HANLEY: A drunk man was arrested by police after he was seen 'bodily lunging' at a number of park cars. North Staffordshire Magistrates heard how Brendan Slater resisted efforts to arrest him after he was heard shouting and swearing. The 41-year-old, of Hope Street, Hanley, pleaded guilty to resisting a police officer in the execution of his duty.

He was given a conditional discharge for 12 months with a £15 victim surcharge. There was no order for costs.

NEWCASTLE: Stephen Shone, aged 30, of Knype Way, Newcastle, who is charged with producing a quantity of cannabis at Newcastle on June 14 this year, had his case adjourned at North Staffordshire Magistrates Court until November 29. He was bailed.

BIDDULPH: A two-week adjournment was granted at North Staffordshire Magistrates Court in the case of a 23-year-old man accused of driving while unfit through drugs on September 19.

FENTON: Ill health has forced the adjournment at North Staffordshire Magistrates Court of a case against John Rowley, aged 28, of Victoria Road, Fenton, is accused of failing to comply with the requirements of a community order made on August 23 this year.

HANLEY: A drink-driver has been handed a 20-month ban.

Jamie Hamnett, aged 33, of Cornes Street, Hanley, was given the punishment at North Staffordshire Magistrates Court after pleading guilty to an offence of excess alcohol on November 11, in Hanley.

A breath test showed him to be almost twice the legal limit. He was also fined £290 with £85 costs and a £29 victim surcharge.
