SILVERDALE: A 26-year-old man charged with dangerous driving has been committed to Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court. Edward Barrs-Wilshaw, of Bath Road, Silverdale, faces the allegation at Newcastle on September 17, and a second matter of driving with excess alcohol on the same date. He will appear for a plea and case management hearing on December 21 and North Staffordshire Magistrates gave him unconditional bail.
PENKHULL: A man accused of trespass is to go on trial.
Mark Beardmore, aged 22, of Newcastle Lane, Penkhull, denies charges of being found on enclosed premises at Shelton for an unlawful purpose, namely theft and possession of diazepam on November 8 this year.
His trial will be held at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre on January 23. He was bailed by North Staffordshire Magistrates.

HANLEY: A 41-year-old man has denied stealing two cans of lager.
Nicholas Cooke, of Ridgway Road, Hanley, will be tried at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre on January 15, after entering not guilty pleas to offences of theft on September 29, and failing to attend a follow-up assessment after a test for the presence of class A drugs.
North Staffordshire Magistrates granted him unconditional bail.
FENTON: Shoplifter Charlene Johnson, of Berdmore Street, Fenton, was given a conditional discharge for 12 months by North Staffordshire Magistrates after she pleaded guilty to stealing toiletries worth £71.76p belonging to Superdrug, Tunstall, on October 27. The 24-year-old was also ordered to pay £85 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
CREWE: A man was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation following a bedroom fire. Firefighters were called to the property in Merlin Way, Leighton, at 1.52pm yesterday. Nobody else was hurt in the incident.
