PACKMOOR: A woman is due to be committed to Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court charged with theft of £22,108. Kim Scarlett, aged 33, of Lordshire Place, Packmoor, faces two allegations of stealing cash belonging to Elizabeth Critchlow. Amounts of £18,393.42 and £3,715.52 are alleged to have been taken between July 17, 2009 and March 31 this year.
North Staffordshire Magistrates declined to use their powers to deal with the matters and granted the defendant unconditional bail to appear at court again on November 19.
HANLEY: A 41-year-old man has been sent to Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court accused of sexual assault and assault occasioning actual bodily harm on October 5 on a woman who cannot be named for legal reasons. Andrew Bates, formerly of Hanley, will appear at the crown court for a preliminary hearing on October 15 and until then North Staffordshire Magistrates remanded him in custody.
LONGTON: Forty six-year-old Sarah Mulvey has appeared before North Staffordshire Magistrates' Court charged with arson. The defendant, of Millicent House, Longton, is accused that without lawful excuse she set fire to a room at Millicent House intending to endanger life or being reckless as to whether life would be endangered. She was sent to Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court to appear there on October 15 and was remanded in custody.

NEWCASTLE: Mark Ibbs who is accused of a night time burglary will be committed to Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on November 19. The defendant, aged 38, of Albert Street, Newcastle, is charged with a burglary at Clare Avenue, Basford, on October 5 this year. Ibbs was remanded in custody to a video link hearing set for October 17.
