ALSAGER: A cystic fibrosis charity has raised around £6,500 to help sufferers after staging a summer of fund-raising events.

Alsager Friends of Cystic Fibrosis collected more than £1,500 at their July ball alone.

The evening's entertainment included a three-course meal, grand prize draw and silent auction.

Wendy Whittaker-Large, chairman of the organising committee, said: "The evening was a wonderful celebration of the lives of those who have cystic fibrosis.

ABBEY HULTON: John Edwards, aged 40, of Greasley Road, Abbey Hulton, who is charged with driving with excess alcohol, driving with no insurance and without a test certificate, will appear at North Staffordshire Magistrates' Court on October 3.

The defendant was granted unconditional bail.

BRINDLEY FORD: Liam Everill, aged 26, of Patrick Place, Brindley Ford, pleaded guilty to theft and fraud by false representation.

He will be sentenced at North Staffordshire Magistrates' Court on October 10 after a report is prepared on him by a probation officer.

TUNSTALL: Martine Pass, aged 34, of Pinnox Street, Tunstall, pleaded guilty to two charges of assaulting a police officer on September 4.

She will be sentenced at North Staffordshire Magistrates' Court on October 10.

She was granted unconditional bail.
