SNEYD GREEN: Niyomiae Loftus, aged 32, of Buxton Street, Sneyd Green, has been committed to Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court after pleading not guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm on Claire Bickerton at Sneyd Green on July 9 and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, namely a claw hammer.

North Staffordshire magistrates granted bail and the defendant will now appear at crown court on October 5 for a plea and case management hearing.

TUNSTALL: Drink-driver Mariuswz Stasiowski has been banned from the roads for two years. The 34-year-old, of Norman Avenue, Tunstall, gave a reading of 114 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath against a legal limit of 35 micrograms on August 21. North Staffordshire magistrates also handed the defendant a 12-month community order with 120 hours unpaid work and £85 costs.

BURSLEM: Student Graham Rowley has been banned from the roads for 18 months after being caught drink driving.

The defendant, a second year student at the Crewe campus of the Manchester Metropolitan University, and formerly of Blake Street, Burslem, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol on August 28.

He gave a reading of 73 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath against a legal limit of 35 micrograms.

He was fined £110 with £85 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.

OAKHILL: Daniel Lear, aged 20, of Neville Street, Oakhill, has denied assaulting a police officer in the execution of his duty and resisting a police officer on August 17.

North Staffordshire magistrates have now fixed a trial for October 20.

The defendant was bailed until that date.
