HANLEY: The Potteries Shopping Centre is offering visitors three hours of free car parking. The centre is giving shoppers their first three hours of parking for nothing from Monday to Friday next week. Car park users will still need to get their chip coin validated at any one of the pay machines. It will say no payment required if shoppers leave within the allotted three hours.

It follows a similar promotion by the centre earlier this month, when free parking was available during half term.

CHEADLE: Two charges of failing to notify a change of circumstances to the Department of Work and Pensions were withdrawn at North Staffordshire Magistrates' Court in the case of Stephen Scott, aged 40, of The Birches, Cheadle, after he accepted an administrative penalty.

NEWCASTLE: Sentence was adjourned for a drug rehabilitation assessment and reports until July 10 after Michael Docherty admitted possession of both cocaine and benzylpiperazine. North Staffordshire Magistrates heard that Docherty, aged 47, of Lilac Close, Newcastle, told police that they were for his own use on a recreational basis only.

FEGG HAYES: Magistrates adjourned the case of Carla Jones, aged 33, of Withington Road, Fegg Hayes, until July 4. She is charged with failing to comply with the requirements of a suspended sentence order imposed on March 2 this year.

TUNSTALL: Adjournments until July 4 were granted by magistrates in the cases of Scott Rigby, aged 24, of Irene Avenue, Tunstall, and Carrie-Ann Webster, aged 28, of Hoskins Road, Tunstall.

The magistrates' court heard the defendants were suffering from medical problems.

Both defendants face a charge of theft on June 14 while Webster is accused of a second theft offence on June 13.

UTTOXETER: Fire crews were last night tackling a fire at a builder's yard. At least three appliances were sent to the site on the Dovefields Industrial Estate in Uttoxeter just after 6pm, after several 999 calls were made. The fire involved a number of pallets in the yard.

CREWE: British Transport Police are asking passengers for information about an incident in which a woman and her pet dog were attacked by a small terrier belonging to another passenger on-board a train between Hartford and Crewe. The incident happened at around 4pm on Tuesday, May 29. Anyone with information should call 0800 40 50 40.
