LEEK: People who fancy learning the sport of archery are being invited to take part in a five-week course aimed at beginners. It is being run by Leek Archery Club and costs £40 to register for a place.

The sessions begin at 7pm on Thursday, May 31 at Leek Hockey Club's ground in Macclesfield Road. All equipment will be supplied.

Organisers say anyone under the age of 16 who wants to sign up for the course should be accompanied by an adult who is also an archer.

CREWE: Bat expert Ged Ryan will give a presentation on the curious lives of the nocturnal mammals before leading a walk around Englesea Brook Museum, when visitors can make use of bat detecting equipment. Museums at Night: The Bats Take Flight starts at 8pm on May 15.

NORTHWOOD: The North Staffordshire branch of Parkinson's UK was due to hold a meeting today. The session, which is running from 1.45pm until 3.45pm, was due to be held at Our Lady and St Michael's Church, in Bucknall Old Road.

The group has recently moved from its previous base at Fenton Community Hall.

CREWE: The next meeting for members of the management committee of the Crewe Sea Cadets (No.94 Unit) will be held in the group's Queen Street headquarters on Thursday at 7.30pm.

AUDLEY: The NHS is appealing for volunteers to attend a blood donor session on Tuesday, May 15, at Audley Methodist Church, New Road, Bignall End. Donor sessions take place from 1.30pm until 3.30pm and 4.30pm until 7.30pm. Call 0300 123 23 23 for an appointment.
