SNEYD GREEN: Magistrates have declined to use their powers to deal with the case of a man charged with dangerous driving. Ian Pawlowski, aged 30, of Abbotts Road, Sneyd Green, is accused of the offences at Alsager Road, Audley, on December 8 last year. North Staffordshire Magistrates were told there were further allegations on the same date of aggravated vehicle-taking, failing to report an accident, driving without insurance, and without a licence. Committal to Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court will take place on March 23 and until then the defendant was given unconditional bail.

NORTH STAFFS: The region's Marie Curie Cancer Care Fund-raising Group is looking for a volunteer to act as chairman. The role would include attending monthly meetings, using an agenda to keep sessions on track and helping to organise future fund-raising activities.

The North Staffs group has been helping raise cash to support the local Marie Curie nursing service for more than six years. Anyone interested in the role should call Charlotte Sewell on 0161 2552800 or e-mail charlotte.sewell@mariecurie.org.uk.

LONGTON: Committal to Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court has taken place in the case of Sandra Pennell, aged 30, of Buccleuch Road, Longton. She is accused of a burglary at a house in the same road in which it is alleged she stole wallets, cash, bank cards and two watches to a value unknown. She will appear before the crown court on March 5 for a plea and case management hearing and North Staffordshire magistrates bailed her until that date.

BURSLEM: After failing to turn up at court to face an allegation of breaching a curfew requirement of a community order made in November last year, North Staffordshire Magistrates issued a warrant without bail for Daniel Burgess, aged 26, of Jean Close, Burslem.
