STAFFORD: An autumn concert of music by English composers will be held next week.

The concert, by Stafford chamber choir Cantemus, will take place at St Mary's Church on Saturday, October 11.

It features music from composer Ralph Vaughan Williams, who died 50 years ago.

The choir sings under the baton of musical director John Savage and is accompanied by Ian Miller on piano.

The concert will start at 11am.

Admission is free and refreshments will be available.

HANLEY: Signed football shirts and limousine rides were auctioned to raise almost £7,000 for charity.

The Staffordshire branch of Variety Club collected the cash at its annual ball at the Quality Hotel in Hanley.

It will go towards buying minibuses called Sunshine Coaches for special needs schools in the Staffordshire area.

Auctioneer Adam Partridge, from BBC's Flog It, hosted the auction, which included signed England, Stoke and Arsenal football shirts.

BUTT LANE: Ballroom and Latin dancing lessons are on offer at a community centre.

The sessions, which cost £4 each, will be held from 2pm to 4pm every Thursday at Butt Lane Community Centre.
