HANLEY: Three men and a woman appeared at North Staffordshire Magistrates' Court yesterday following this week's early morning police raids over alleged anti-social behaviour in Hanley.

They are Garry Stephen Pawlowski, aged 30, of Bartholomew Road, Meir, John Condliffe, aged 39, of St Michael's Road, Pitshill, Yvonne Holder, aged 28, also of St Michael's Rd and Lee Dishley James, aged 45, of Broom Street, Hanley. All four face a charge that at Hanley between May 6 and May 15 this year they were concerned in the supply of heroin. All four defendants will be committed to Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court in August. James, who entered a not guilty plea to the offence, was conditionally bailed until August 13. Pawlowski, Condliffe and Holder will appear before magistrates again on July 8 via the video-link.

MIDDLEPORT: Police found a bedroom cannabis factory after raiding a house in Morton Street, Middleport, District Judge David Taylor heard. Ruth Bellfield, prosecuting, said officers noticed a strong smell of cannabis while executing a search warrant. Upstairs they found a locked room containing 14 plants, with a yield of about £500, lights, fans, insulation and blacked out windows. Benjamin Fowles, aged 26, of Stafford Crescent, Newcastle, and Amy Lowe, aged 19, of Mace Street, Trent Vale, pleaded guilty to producing a quantity of cannabis in April this year. Fowles also admitted abstracting electricity.

Lowe was given a 12 month community order with supervision and 100 hours' unpaid work, while Fowles was given a community order for 12 months with supervision and told to do 180 hours' unpaid work.

KIDSGROVE: A teenage flasher exposed himself to park-goers. Officers from Kidsgrove Neighbourhood Policing Unit (NPU) are appealing witnesses following the incident in Bathpool Park on Wednesday night. At around 8pm police received a report that a man had appeared from bushes and exposed himself to passers by. He is described as aged between 15 and 17, wearing shorts and a black T-shirt.
