SHELTON: North Staffordshire magistrates declined jurisdiction over the cases of Azan Ahmed, Kasan Ahmed, and Jameel Bashire, who will be committed to Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on May 13.

Azan Ahmed, aged 25, of Avenue Road, Shelton, Kasan Ahmed, aged 24, of the same address, and Bashire, aged 33, also of Avenue Road, are all charged with assaulting Mohammed Bashire, occasioning him actual bodily harm on March 2 this year at Shelton. They were all granted conditional bail until the next hearing.

WOLSTANTON: There will be a ladies evening at Ellison Primary School in Ellison Street, Wolstanton, on Wednesday to raise money for school equipment.

The event, which starts at 7pm, will feature beauty products, cookware, jewellery and more from companies including The Body Shop at Home, Jamie at Home, Jewels and Gems.

Admission is £1, which includes a drink.

HANLEY: North Staffordshire magistrates committed Laura Copeland to Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court to appear for a plea and case management hearing on April 12.

The 25-year-old, of Langford Road, Bucknall, is accused of unlawfully and maliciously wounding Jane Ollerhead at Bucknall on November 28 last year.

She was bailed until the next hearing.

HANLEY: Youngsters have been invited to Hanley Library tomorrow to see if they can spot an alien.

There will be a free 'alien story-time' session for the under-fives between 2pm and 3pm, as well as 'potion-making'.

TUNSTALL: Holly Thomas, aged 18, of Bond Street, Tunstall, admitted two thefts, both on March 12 this year, and was given a community order for 12 months, with supervision and the Thinking Skills programme.
