Is it a bird, a plane, a UFO? No, it's Stoke City taking a shot at Old Trafford

It was almost with a sense of relief that Stoke City at least had a go at Manchester United on Saturday.  Okay, Stoke's first goal was an own goal and the second almost reminded of a 'running repeater' but a goal is a goal in my book.

Does this unexplained phenomena of attacking Manchester United convey the message that Tony Pulis is slowly beginning to change the ultra-defensive Stoke style?  Well it's a step in the right direction.

Not to mention the fact that a Stoke City player in Ryan Shawcross is on the verge of being capped for England.

You see some supporters don't buy this hand clasped, head bowed meek appreciation of what 'Stoke have done' in recent years.  The reason being that during the early 1970's it was natural growing up in a city that had one of the best clubs in England.

As for Tony Pulis, well for the time being he has the benefit of the doubt.  The coined phrase 'evolution not revolution' will be borne out with time. However, three points off Manchester United or Chelsea (or both) at home this season is becoming more of a probability not a possibility.

Now that is progress.
