Vote for your sports hero

A TOWN'S unsung sports heroes will be celebrated at a ceremony next month.

The annual sports awards staged by Leek and District Sports Council will be held at Cheadle Cricket Club on Monday, March 15.

The event will honour participants, coaches and volunteers for their hard work and success last year.

Now, Staffordshire Moorlands District Council has urged people to make their nominations before Friday, February 12.

The sports council has already sent forms to sports clubs and schools, and they are also available from the Leek one-stop shop and the town's Brough Park Leisure Centre.

Councillor Mark Deaville, portfolio holder for leisure, sport, parks and countryside, said: "These awards are a great opportunity to honour our local sports stars."
