Traders have new leaders

A TOWN trade group plans to reach out to neighbouring areas after appointing new leading members.

Graeme Court has been selected as the new chairman of the Biddulph Business Chamber after Kim Corbishley, who had been chairman since the chamber was re-established more than two years ago, elected to stand down.

The Darling Buds of Biddulph owner will now act as vice-chairman in place of Alan Forrister, of Herbie's Health Foods, who also served over the same period but has now stepped down.

Mrs Corbishley thanked everyone for their support during her 30 months as chairman during the group's annual general meeting at Biddulph Town Hall.

And Mr Court, who has a half-share in the recently opened Rijo Cafe said she and Mr Forrister had served the town well.

He added that his own initial priorities were to increase membership, communicate better with businesses and local government.

Mr Court also aims to develop a fund-raising events committee and extend the business organisation into neighbouring villages.
