Uttoxeter race meeting abandoned

THIS afternoon’s meeting at Uttoxeter has been abandoned due to a frozen track.

Clerk of the course Keith Ottesen had planned a 7.30am inspection but was forced to make an earlier call after temperatures dropped well below freezing overnight.

He said: “We have abandoned. The temperature was minus five at 11pm and it stayed that way for three or four hours.

“The temperature has risen a little now but that gives us no prospect of getting the frost out of the ground and having a safe racing surface.”
