'The atmosphere was great, it's just a shame we lost...'
Unemployed Ash Bentley, aged 23, of Smallthorne, said: "I'm gutted. It's been great watching it around Hanley, the atmosphere has been brilliant. We didn't play badly and I thought we were going to do it, but we never do well on penalties."
IT support consultantDan Birks, aged 23, of Chelmsford Road, Wolstanton, said: "I won't watch anther game of the Euros now, I'm gutted. It's been cracking watching it around Hanley, it was a great atmosphere. England were doing well and I was looking forward to beating Germany and then Spain in the final, but it's not to be."
Entertainer Jason McMurdon, aged 30, of Well Street, Hanley, said: "It would've been great if England had won, but it is not unexpected. We are used to it. It's been fantastic watching the football around Hanley, I came out for the atmosphere and it has been really good."
Megan Edwards, a 19-year-old student, of Tunstall, said: "I don't normally watch football, but I got caught up in the atmosphere and I wanted England to win. I came out with my friend who is really into football – it has been more fun watching her reactions throughout the game."
