Two arrests after drugs seized from homes in Kidsgrove and Chesterton

TWO men were arrested today after drugs were seized from two homes.

Police executed warrants in Kidsgrove and Chesterton this morning.

Class A drugs, believed to be cocaine with an estimated street value of £2,000, and cannabis plants were recovered from a home in the Old Butt Lane area of Kidsgrove.

Cash and other assets worth £20,000 were also seized with an estimated value of around £20,000.

A 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply, money laundering and cannabis cultivation. He remains in custody for questioning.

A 35-year-old man was arrested at a home in the Castle Street area of Chesterton on suspicion of handling stolen goods and possession of Class A drugs, suspected heroin.

He has been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

Sergeant Simon Brownsword, from Newcastle Borough Local Policing Team, said: "Through Operation Nemesis wWe're determined to continue our crackdown on drug production and supply in our communities."
