Alton Towers

Alton Towers has been a tourist attraction in the Staffordshire Moorlands for almost 150 years. Its gardens drew in crowds for most of the 20th Century, but it was the opening of the Corkscrew rollercoaster in 1980 that catapulted the theme park into the limelight. It now brings in 2 million visitors a year and employs 1,200 on the park which includes its rollercoats and two themed hotels.
