Youngsters' road petition
RESIDENTS are awaiting a council decision on action to slow down speeding traffic.
More than 200 people in Biddulph have signed a petition calling for curbs to control the speed of vehicles in Haydon Road.
Charlotte Garner, aged 14, and her 12-year-old cousin Maddie were behind the petition after Charlotte's mother Jo Garner banned them from playing on the grass at the bottom of the road.
Social worker Jo, aged 42, said: "Both children were upset about not being able to play and I said let's do something positive. The children came up with the idea of a petition and printed it off the computer."
The two girls then took their petition door-to-door to collect signatures.
The petition was presented to Councillor Ian Lawson who will share and discuss it with fellow councillors at Staffordshire Moorlands District Council next month.
Copies have already been circulated to the traffic control department and Staffordshire Police.
