Over a hundred pupils from High Schools across Staffordshire and Cheshire were invited to Newcastle-under-Lyme College (NULC) to sample life in the successful Academy of Sport.

The Academy of Sport hosted Open Days on Thursday 16 and Friday 17 February, where current Year 11 pupils were invited to tour the state-of-the-art sporting facilities at the Colleges £6 million purpose built Sports Centre on Knutton Lane before taking part in a range of activities during a training and development day.

Dave Sutton, Football Academy Coordinator said: "The training and development day was thoroughly enjoyed by the pupils. The standard of sporting ability was very high and even included a number of students who have already competed at county, regional and national standard."

The pupils spent time working with current Academy coaches who provided training sessions and hosted matches in Football, Basketball, Netball and Rugby.

Only last month four students from the Colleges Academy of Sport were selected to represent their country in a range of sports including Football, Rugby and Netball.

Dave continued: "NULC are building a strong reputation for the quality of its sporting students and I would urge anyone who has an interest in sport or would like a career in sport to get in touch to find out more about the Academy of Sport here at NULC."
