WRITE LINES: Eleven-year-old Sasha Jones has taken her first step towards becoming a writer by getting a poem published.

The young scribe, from Kidsgrove, has been told her poem The Vampire Bite will be published in an anthology in November.

Sasha's work will appear in compendium The Adventure Starts Here after she was selected from thousands of competition entrants by publisher Young Writers.

The poem was submitted by teachers at Reginald Mitchell Primary School, which Sasha attended up until this summer.

She said: "It is about a little boy who is just getting into bed when he hears a creak and a vampire comes into the room and says to him that he stinks like cabbage.

"I think it is good to be picked and I like writing funny stories, which is what my poem is."
