Young driver dies in Staffordshire/ Shropshire border crash

A 23-YEAR-OLD man has died after the car he was driving struck a tree near the Staffordshire/ Shropshire border.

The crash happened just after 1am this morning on A53 Market Drayton to Loggerheads road.

A West Midlands Ambulance spokesman said the car, a red BMW, suffered significant damage.

The driver, who was the only occupant, was confirmed dead at the scene.

The road was closed for four hours while police investigators examined the scene.
