Worries over centre move
MEMBERS of a political group have voiced concerns over plans to relocate an emergency call centre.
Cheshire Fire Service is pushing ahead with proposals to move to a regional fire control centre alongside officers from Manchester, Lancashire and Cumbria.
It would see 999 fire call-handing and engine deployment in Cheshire moved from Winsford to Warrington.
Now Congleton Constituency Labour Party has written to Cheshire Fire Authority saying it "supports the retention of the local fire control room and believes that if the sub-regional control project goes ahead it will be to the detriment of our community."
The Fire Brigades' Union also opposes the move.
