CRIME reduction charity Nacro has been working with ex-offenders since 1966 to offer practical answers to reducing crime.

It has 200 projects in England and Wales, benefiting 60,000 people each year.

The organisation works in re-settling ex-offenders and prisoners with support in housing, education, training and mental health. Its Resettlement Plus Helpline is 0800 0181 259.

The Staffordshire Probation Service works with other agencies, including police and prisons, over several areas to change offenders' behaviour and reduce re-offending.

Over the course of 2006/07 the Staffordshire Probation Area supervised about 3,500 offenders on community orders and roughly a further 650 on release from custody.
