POLICE are investigating an unexplained death.

Officers were called out to Uttoxeter following the death of 44-year-old Alma Gaunt at her home in Park Avenue, pictured, at 11.20pm on Monday.

Scenes of crimes officers combed the area for clues and the street was sealed off. Police also carried out house-to-house inquiries.

A police spokesman said: "Inquiries into the death, which is being treated as unexplained, are ongoing.

"No-one has been arrested in connection with the death."

A post-mortem examination was due to take place yesterday by a Home Office pathologist.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed anything in the area, or who may have any information about Ms Gaunt.
